Interview Success in Just 5 Easy Steps

You have reached the interview stage so on paper you are exactly what the company are looking for, the only thing that stands between you and that new office is the interview and as you know successful interviews boil down to one thing; confidence.

If you’re not feeling too confident there are some additional tips on how to get that job!

Pre-Interview Research

The more you know about the company the better you will understand what they are looking for.  The Internet is a good source of information and will help you model yourself into their ideal candidate!

Predict their Questions in Advance

By predicting what they are going to ask you will in turn allow you to rehearse your answers.  Most interviewers will focus on how your past responsibilities in other positions will relate to this job.  Since you have already studied the company then you will be aware of their style and already have a prepared answer.

Dress for the Job you want not the Job you Have

Dress like you already have the job, wear a smart suit and act as if you feel important.  Wear minimal jewellery and dress how you would imagine someone in your position should dress.  This means no short skirts, very high heeled shoes and very low necklines.  In some cases it would be wise to cover up all tattoos and take out visible body jewellery.

Why? An interview is really role playing for you as well as the interviewer so you must play it the way the ritual is intended.

Decide on the Main Points you want to get across in the Interview

Most people believe that they only have to respond to answers but there is always a way to slotting your answers into their questions.  Rehearse your answers in advance by predicting their questions and answering them with key points.

It’s very important to consider what key points you should address before you go into the interview.  You need to make sure that your answers come across as a Positive, Powerful, Personal anecdote of glowing achievements with a list of at least 3 key benefits you can offer the company that can solve a known issue (this is where you research comes in handy?).  With all of this in mind it’s very important to make sure you are actually answering the question they have originally asked.

A Positive Attitude, and a Smile!

You would be amazed at the power of a smile.  A smile Radiates positive energy and lifts the mood of the person interviewing you, no one wants to employ someone who is miserable.

If you follow these tips and rehearse your interview skills you will be surprised at how much more confident you feel.  With this in mind I have one more thing to say; I have no doubt that you will get the job!
